Big Mouth

As for no mist...  Opened the garage door this morning for my last drive to work before the Welsh Tour and there was gentle mist wafting over the river.  It developed into fog as I drove - my slowest trip to work ever.

Oh little town of Bethlehem

In the early days of Mad Men the gorgeous one designed an ad for Bethlehem Steel and it made me think of Wentworth.  I think it was the star, and the phrase 'Oh little town of Bethlehem...' often comes into my head as I drive home at twilight and have one large Evening Star (Venus?) before me.  The phrase came into my head again this evening as I walked home from the school.  There was a community meeting to discuss the establishment of a Stephanie Alexander School Garden and Kitchen.  So many great people there and fabulous food.  The school hall decked out like Harvest Festival.  It's such an exciting project.  I can hardly wait to get back from holiday!!

Promises kept

Some time ago I promised Jake that I would celebrate his family's new house with a blog picture of him.  I also know that friends and relatives in England and Wales will want to see photos, so here goes.
This is Georgia and Jake when I first met them - 1982 in my unit at Bellerive, Tasmania.  And here they are some years later, still in Tassie.
Georgia and Matt's wedding day, some time ago...  If you'd like to see more of Georgia's life in USA, go to the Verbosity blog in the list.
And to see more of Jake, Miyeon and Sarah Mel you'll have to go to Korea (but please take me as well).

In short, there's simply not a more congenial spot...

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw castle turrets as I drove the backblocks of Dareton.  That little black blob on the left is a pony.  Amazing.  Certainly made my day.

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness

I have always loved Autumn.  We haven't  had any mists so far.  I was driving to Mildura on Saturday for a delicious Turkish community lunch - lots of pomegranate seeds sprinkled like jewels - when I saw this row of pumpkins on the sultana drying racks and remembered that it was this sight which, years ago, made me want to have a blog.  It took a long time to happen.  Now here I am with more blogs than you can poke a stick at and struggling to keep up with them.  But that's life - feast or famine.
I will be abandoning this blog for a while while (!) I'm in Wales and England.  Hopefully I'll be able to access BlogBlodwyn over there and post to it.  I'm hoping to post more photos on the Our House blog to show O/S rellies and friends.  That's the plan...
Oh, and I'm posting this photo from a cuppla weeks back.  Wentworth has 2 of these seats.  I think the one in the main street looks ridiculous - far too large for the human scale of the street.  But this one faces towards the river and I have always loved the avenue of jacaranda trees in which it has been placed.  It is just outside another Wentworth Gallery, Artback, where I bought your Russian doll brooches Bronny, Heths, Helly Bells and CK Beagle.
The fish is a Murray Cod.
Talking of things piscatorial takes me back to our Easter Trip on Kangaroo Island.  Here am I with the aforesaid CK Beagle.
We really shouldn't be let out...  Keep the photos coming, Bron.

Yummy Monday

Another yummy Monday.  Just taken my time and done heaps.  Even time to blog.
So, first a flashback to work last week - the drive to Balranald.  Only 3 more trips to Balranald before my job finishes.

This is just outside of Euston - notice the locust splats on the windscreen, although the plague seems to have abated.
I'm trying to get close enough to the ute in front to take a photo.
Blurry because I couldn't catch up so have cheated with cropping the photo.  But the point is to show this iconic (oh how I hate that word but I think it is appropriate here) scene.  Two old dogs in the back of a tough ute with a log truck of red gum fast approaching.
And another reminder that our trip is fast approaching
X marks the spot.  Or is it a sky kiss????  A kiss from the goddess???
