Meanwhile in Wales

I'm off to Adelaide for Helly's birthday, Halloween and Melbourne Cup Day so won't be blogging for a while.  Most of you know that I also lead a life as an artist in St Davids, using the name Jackie Morris so I thought you could access this while I'm away.  Mum and I spent many a happy hour in the Visitor Information Centre cafe and gallery last year.  Wales is calling again.

I beg to differ

I had to borrow this news banner from the newsagent to make my point... Sadly the bougainvillea, despite repotting and our attempts at grafting, looks as though it's not long for this world.  Actually, I exaggerate.  The base of the plant is still alive but the long tendril it took me 3 years to achieve definitely looks on its way out.

Wine and roses

Jill and her Steve  visited for The Wentworth Show at the end of August.  Here's the Southern Belle relaxing on the Wentworth Wharf after the sensory overload of the Show.
And here is the Gold Bunny rose Southern Belle gave me.  Having been one of our pre-wedding slaves, she knows my penchant for this rose.

A thing of beauty is a joy

until it is pushed through the newsagents glass door.  Which is what happened to my beautiful bouganvillea pot last night.  Both the pot and the door are smashed.  The plant was snapped.  Steve and I have tried to graft / strap it back together.  We'll see.  We've had so many compliments about this potplant during the Country Music Festival.  Sometimes its hard to be a good citizen... to paraphrase a song I've heard a lot recently.
A reasonably unusual event in Wentworth.  Me and my big blog mouth.

August: unusual occurrences in Wentworth

It is strange to find a fish at the base of the Xenotaph, but not unusual to find the street full of tractors.  It happens every 5 years.
The Fergie Tractor Rally.
Thanking the little grey fergie for saving the town of Wentworth from the '56 floods.
It is unusual to see a fergie in The Crown Hotel.
It's usually at The Royal.
It is unusual to see a pink grey fergie, but Shirley misses no chance to promote breast cancer awareness.
