but my eyes still see...

Simon  & Garfunkel?  Peter and Gordon?  Some of you will have no idea what I'm on about.  Searching around for a name for this post, it was sparked by the previous post title and the fact that I've been meaning to take the above photo for yonks.  I see this sight every day on my way to work and am struck with how Provence / Tuscany it could look but it is unmistakeably Australian - Merbein no less.  Today is my day off and I was on my way to Bronwyn R's house at Red Cliffs to do a little gardening.
Here's Bron's lovely little cottage - new roof n all
Here's another cottage that may seem familiar to some who attended my second wedding.  It is opposite the place we got the gold bunny rose garland.  That was such fun!  Despite the temperature...  The cottage above is on the shore of a lake whose name I can't remember.  It (the cottage) used to be surrounded by rose gardens but I think the drought saw their demise, plus this is much sought after real estate and now very much McMansions territory.  So this view is quite extraordinary.
.Here's my home sweet home.  The jacaranda is finally flowering, the grapevine is making its much monitored progress along the deck, as is the crepuscule rose on the other side.
I love it when a plan comes together.

Silence is golden

but this blog has been too damned quiet.  Been busy with Mental Health Week, Carers Week and my online course.  After that I don't much feel like sitting at a computer for more.  The garden is my refuge and salvation.  The roses are fabulous.  These Lorraine Lees have blossomed on a 'water shoot' or whatever its called - a lovely surprise.
And the flowers on the ornamental grape have also been stunning.
My course finishes in early December by which time the garden will probably be burnt to a stump.
Steve and I planted  fig and apricot trees after my visit to Spain.  The plan is for them to provide some summer shade.

Wednesday's child

I have regaled you in previous years with pastures of pig-face
but I don't think I've shown you this statice before.
Unfortunately the camera went flat before I could take a close-up.
It was Wednesday, so a day off for me and I could indulge in my drive to Mildura to see the Exercise Physiologist.
Every time I drive to the job at Primary Mental Health I want to take this photo.
Sometimes I think I'm Thursday's child.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Life with a glass cutter.
