thin on the ground

Garden photos have been on hold lately because there is nothing new to photograph.  The dry weather has just turned everything golden or dead.  But not so at the Eiffel Tower.
You may recall back in October (http://tirralirradancebytheriver.blogspot.com/2018/10/) that some trucks pulled up on the corner of Melbourne and Vicary Streets, unloaded, and erected a metal structure.
Well, now the plan is coming together.  The metal boxes were filled with potting mix and plants a month or so ago and, to my amazement, despite being either north or west facing, everything seems to be flourishing

There are predominantly Tassie natives on one side
with a mix of natives and mainstream edibles on the other,
and a few succulents thrown in.  It took me a while to appreciate how clever the design is.  I had wondered why we had to wait for a sculptor to design it.  It's lovely to see people linger as they walk past.  Children sometimes run excitedly from planter to planter.  Some bold ones pick the herbs and strawberries, which is all part of the plan.  The University of Tasmania has funded and driven the project.
Triabunna's High Line.
