a melange for you

Well, a lime actually.  The only one we've grown so far.
 a crooked lime
I haven't blogged for so long that I can hardly remember how to do it.  I have spent some time in Adelaide to be with Mum. Bronny and I have an Alan Garner thing going so I had to join the Adelaide Library Service to borrow the Owl Service.  It's about Wales, owls, flowers and spooky stuff but I had to read it when I was at school, so it meant nothing to me...  I enjoyed it this time around but it's no comparison to Strandloper.

I gardened.  I gave Mum cyclamen seeds about 20 years ago and one of the plants is still flowering.
I enjoyed the city, especially North Terrace.  Colonel Light's vision realised as far as I'm concerned.
Caught this display in the Adelaide Arcade.  Costumes made by TAFE students in Performing Arts.

Mum and I saw 2 films - The Sapphires and Hysteria - and enjoyed both.  This is the Regal Theatre on Kensington Road.
Close your eyes now if nudity offends...
Here's Rufus' bum and part of Mum and Willowa in Helly's kitchen.  Willowa cooked up a storm for a latish celebration of Tamasin's birthday.
The view from my Adelaide bedroom window - the cat sunned itself each morning.
And I came home to Wentworth to find an owl waiting for me.  Spooky indeed.

  1. Cats and owls! I forgot to tell you that I finally finished the sea captain's wife ( is that what it was called) right before we left VT. Love Dad's hat. He's looking very cute and artsy in his winter woolies.

  2. On the Alan Garner theme, Boneland is winging its way to me (not by owl power) and should be here next week. I have reread Weirdstone of Brisingamen and Moon of Gomrath in anticipation. As the price of the newly released, third in the trilogy has fallen by over two thirds since its recent release, I assume that it was not universally acclaimed, but we shall see.
I reread Elidor as well, adding a unicorn to the mix. Red Shift is with CKB and I await her response to it with interest. Being out of synch / out of time felt familiar. May owls be with you

  4. Owls and pussycats going to sea with the Captain - everything is connected! That's the hat your Dad knitted for himself.
Bron - I look forward to more Alan Garner and a bit of unicorn.
Adorable niece - the power of photography! Bronny's reply also makes me think you may like to give Harry Potter a go - Hedwig the owl is a wonderful character.
